Bobbles are fun to do & work up quickly, giving a lovely textured effect. The beautiful, soft yarn makes the afghan drape gracefully. SIZE 40" x 54" before fringing MATERIALSMohair type worsted weight yarn, CARON DAZZLEAIRE: Approx. 30 oz. required for afghan Size K aluminum crochet hook (or size required for gauge) GAUGE 6 dc = 2 1/2; 4 pattern rows = 2 1/2" INSTRUCTIONS Ch 128 sts loosely. Foundation Row: Dc in 3rd ch from hook & in each ch across: 126 dc counting ch-2 as a dc; ch 1, turn. Row 1 (wrong side): Sc in 1st dc, sk 1 dc, * sc in 1 dc; (YO & draw up a lp in same dc where last sc was made) 3 times, YO & draw through 6 lps, YO & draw through rem 2 lps (Bobble made). Sk 1 dc & push Bobble to back. Rep from * to last dc & ch-2, make sc & Bobble in next dc, dc in top of ch-3: 62 Bobbles made; ch 1, turn. Row 2: Sc in 1st dc, sk next Bobble; * in next sc, make sc & Bobble, sk next Bobble & push Bobble to the front. Rep from * to last dc. Dc in last dc, ch 2, turn. Row 3: Dc in next Bobble & in each st across, ch 2, turn. Row 4: Dc in next dc & in each dc across; dc in top of ch-2; ch 1, turn. Rep rows 1-4 until afghan measures approx 40", ending by working Row 4. Fasten off. Weave in all loose ends. FRINGEFollow Single Knot Fringe Instructions below. Cut strands 16" long. Use 4 strands, folded in 1/2, & tie knot around the ch-2 of the 2 Bobble rows across each short end of afghan, + a knot at the beg & ending dc rows (34 knots each side). (Approx. 120 yds required for fringe). SINGLE KNOT FRINGEHold specified # of strands for 1 knot of fringe tog, then fold in 1/2. Hold afghan w/ right side facing you. Use crochet hook to draw folded end through space or st form right to wrong side & pull loose ends through folded section & draw knot up firmly. Space knots as indicated in pattern instructions. Trim ends of fringe evenly. |
