Body:
Rnd 1: Starting at neck, with lt fray, ch 16, sl st in
first ch to form ring, ch 1, sc in each ch around.
Rnd 2: 3 sc in first st, sc in each st around.
Rnd 3: Sc in first st, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 8 sts,
sc next 2 sts tog, sc in last 6 sts.
Rnds 4 & 5: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 6: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 4 times, sc in each st
around.
Rnd 7: Sc in first 10 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st)
2 times, 2 sc in next st; for back, sl st in next 5 sts; 2
sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st.

Ear (make 2)
Row 1: With lt gray, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in
next 7 ch, 3 sc in last ch; continuing on opposite side of
starting ch, sc in next 8 ch, do not turn. Fasten off.
Row 2: Working in back lps, join dk gray with sl st in
first st, sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
Sew first and last sts of row 1 together. Sew ears to top
of head 1" apart.
Leg (make 2 left legs, 2 right legs)
Rnd 1: With lt gray, ch 2 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook
Rnd 2: Working in back lps, sc in each of first 3 sts, sc
next 2 sts tog, sc in each of last 3 sts.
Rnds 3 & 4: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 5: Sc in each of first 2 sts, 2 sc in each of next 3
sts, sc in each of last 2 sts.
Rnd 6: Sc in each of first 2 sts, (sc next 2 sts tog) 3
times, sc in each of last 2 sts.
Rnd 7: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 8: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) 3 times, sc in last st
Rnd 9: (Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) 2 times,
sc in each of last 2 sts.
Rnds 10-11: For right leg, sc in nfirst st, hdc in next 5

Rnds 10-11: For left leg, sc in first 4 sts, hdc in next 5
sts, sc in each of last 3 sts. At end of last rnd, join

Sew one left leg and one right leg to bottom of body over
rnds 6-10 with hdc to outside for front legs. Tack rnd 9 of
legs together at bottom of body. Repeat with remaining legs
over rnds 18-22 of body for back legs.
Forelock and Mane:
For each fringe, cut one strand of dk gray 3" long. Fringe 4 sts between
ears for forelock. Fringe sts from back of forelock down back of head to
rnd 6 of body for mane.
Tail:
Cut three strands of dk gray each 12" long; tie separate 6" strand dk
gray around center of all strands held together leaving ends for sewing.
Fold strands in half; make braid 2" long; secure ends. Trim. Sew fold to
back of body.
Facial Features:
With dk brown yarn, using satin stitch, embroider eyes on rnd 9 of head
three sts apart; using straight stitch embroider mouth on rnds 12.
Halter:
With three strands dk brown yarn, braid a 4 3/8" strap and two 5 1/2"
straps. With sewing thread, tack ends of 4 3/8" piece together, place
around muzzle. Sew one end of one 5 1/2" piece to each side of muzzle
strap, pull center of strap behind ears. Sew ends of remaining 5 1/2"
strap together. Place around head in front of ears. Tack to head strap
on each side.
OXEN
Materials:

working side to side, embroider eyes on rnd 7 of head 1"
apart. With black, working up and down, embroider pupil at
center of each eye. With lt brown, using satin stitch,
embroider nostrils on rnd 2 of head three sts apart.
Body
Rnd 1: Starting at chest, with tan, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch
from hook.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around.
Rnd 4: (Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around.
Rnd 5: (Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) around.
Rnds 6-13: Sc in each st around. Stuff. Continue stuffing
as you work.
Rnd 14: (Sc in next 8 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around.

BERRY STITCH (bs)--insert hook in st, yo, pull through st (2
lps on hook, keep first lp on hook); working with second lp
only, ch 3; yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, pushing bs to
right side of work.
RAM
Body
Rnd 1: Starting at chest, with off-white worsted, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: *Sc in next st, bs in same st as last sc; repeat from * around.

Secure strand. Sew two legs to bottom front of body for
front legs. Sew two legs to bottom back of body for back
legs.
Ear (make 2)--
With off-white worsted, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, fasten off. With back side
of sts facing you, sew ears to top of head 2" apart. Horn (make 2)
Row 1: With tan, ch 11, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each
ch across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off. Fold
lengthwise, sew sts of row 2 and starting ch together. Se
to top of head in front of ears 1" apart. Curl horns under.
Tail
Rnd 1: With off-white, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnds 2-3: Sc in each st around. At end of last rnd, join
with sl st in first sc.
Row 4: Flateen last rnd, working through both thicknesses,
ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
With back side of last row facing you, sew to back of body.
Facial Features--with black, using french knot, embroider
eyes on rnd 8 of head 3/4" apart. Using fly stitch,
embroider mouth centered between eyes on rnd 1.
EWE--Body
Rnds 1-3: Work rnds 1-3 of Ram's body.
Rn 4: *(Bs in next st, sc in next st) 2 times, (bs, sc) in
next st; repeat from * 2 more times, bs in next st, sc in
next st, bs in last st.
Rnds 5-13: Work rnds 6 and 5 of Ram;s body alternately,
ending with rnd 6.
Rnd 14: (Bs in next st, sc next 2 sts tog) around, join
with sl st in first sc. Leaving 8" strand for weaving,
fasten off. Stuff. Weave strand through sts of last rnd,
pull to gather. Secure strand.
HEAD
Rnds 1-5: Work rnds 1-5 of Ram's head.
Rnd 6: *Sc in next st, bs in next st, sc in next st, (bs,
sc) in next st*, bs in next st, sc in next st, bs in next
st, (sc, bs) in next st; repeat between first and second *.
Rnds 7-11: Work rnds 5 and 6 of Ram's body alternately,

LEG (make 4)
